What is a CRM, and does a small business need one?
A CRM is one place that holds every lead and customer, what's been said to them, and what happens next. A small business needs one the moment leads come from more than one place (phone, form, Google, Facebook) and more than one person handles them. That's most businesses with two or more employees.
Without a CRM, leads live in a phone's call log, an inbox, a Facebook messenger thread, and someone's memory. Some of them get followed up. Nobody can say which, or how fast, or what happened. The ones that fall through are invisible, which is why most owners underestimate how many they lose.
With one, every inquiry lands in the same list with a name, a source, and a next step. Automatic replies go out in seconds. Follow-ups happen on a schedule instead of when someone remembers. And you can see, from your phone, what's open and who's on it.
Why we use HubSpot
We run our own businesses on HubSpot because it starts free, grows without a rebuild, and connects to a website form, a phone line, Google, and Facebook without custom code. Most small businesses never need to pay for it. What they need is someone to set it up properly the first time, connect the sources, and build the two or three automatic follow-ups that make the difference. That's what our follow-up setup is.
